Scott joined the committee in 2009 and immediately volunteered to chair the project for adding additional pavers at the memorial.
Since then he has volunteered for practically every project we have had, including, but not limited to, the Veterans Day program, Tenth Anniversary program, Military Day at the Fair, and others.
Scott has been involved in supporting veterans in Southeast Minnesota for over two decades. Scott’s passion for serving his community comes from his grandfather, a former prisoner of war, or POW. Scott followed his grandfather’s advice and has been involved in many programs, events, and groups that support the military in Southeast Minnesota. A few include:
- Member of the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial Committee
- Minnesota Patriot Guard
- Board Member of the Southeast Minnesota Honor Flight
- Chairman of The Hero’s Ride
- Founder of the Minnesota POW/MIA Rider Association
- Current National President of the POW/MIA Riders Association
Scott has a deep respect and love for this country and is what many would call a “true patriot” He would say, “We must do all that we can to remember that freedom is not free,” and “We must never forget.”
